Emulsion stability

Emulsion stability testing is a regulatory requirement for plant protection products and biocides using one or more CIPAC methods. The emulsifiable concentrate is mixed in a CIPAC standard water and checked for separation of ‘cream’ at set times over 24 hours, followed by a test of re-emulsifiability. The dilutions used for CIPAC tests are MT 36.1, 36.2 and 36.3 are 1%, 5% and other specified dilutions, respectively. For more dilute solutions, a colorimetric method is used (MT 173).
